Luton, a location where our Ceilidh Band could play for your wedding or eventTowns, cities and regions have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune. Of Luton, has been said:- " Luton lies at the northern end of a river gap in the Chiltern Hills, thirty miles north of London. One of it's earliest names, Lygetun, means 'the enclosure by the river Lea'. The town spans about 12 square miles, but one hundred years ago the buildings and streets covered less than a square mile. For centuries, until this growth spurt, Luton had been first a small farming community and then a tiny market town; in the 17th and 18th centuries it was a town in decay and then, early in the 19th century, the development of the straw hat industry changed Luton into a factory town, the chief centre of hat manufacture in the south-east Midlands. In the 20th century the decline of the hat industry has been balanced by the introduction of new industries, primarily in the engineering fields. " The bagpipes—they are screaming and they are sorrowful. ~There is a wail in their merriment, and cruelty in their triumph. ~ They rise and fall like a weight swung in the air at the end of a string. ~ Hugh MacDiarmid CLICK HERE [Ceilidh Bands in Luton for your wedding] [About Ceilidh Bands] [Ensembles in Luton wedding music repertoire] [About Luton] [About music in Luton] [About Wedding Venues] [About Wedding Ceremonies registrars, ministers and music] [About other kinds of music such as jazz or folk] [Frequently Asked Questions FAQs] [Ensembles1] [Ensembles2] [Ensembles3] [Ensembles4] [Links] [Home Page] | | |
